A Thermal Anomaly In This Morningside Home Hid A Disaster Waiting To Happen

Modern plumbing allows you to access water in ways that have been historically impossible, whether that's a toilet on the upper floor of a building or a properties water supply coming from nothing but rainwater collected from the roof. Unfortunately, though, when that plumbing fails, the problems can quickly turn into cataclysmic events, even if the initial failure is a simple one.

This Morningside property showed a thermal anomaly in the ceiling above the living room. Before we could attempt to visually inspect the space, we needed some more information about the cause of the anomaly - after all, different problems generally require different diagnostic techniques. By using a moisture meter, we were able to confirm the presence of moisture in the ceiling space, which, combined with the thermal anomaly, heavily suggested that the home had sprung a leak somewhere.

Fortunately, the owner of the home was present during the inspection, and they agreed to allow our team to visually inspect the ceiling space via the downlight fixture. Once we were able to get a camera into the ceiling space, we quickly identified a small leak seeping out from the waste pipe.

We provided our findings to both our client and the building's owner, and we were pleased to hear that the issues were resolved before settlement. With the work completed, both parties were left happy once the sale had been finalised.
